Unnao rape accused former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s daughter Dr Ishita Sengar has written an open letter following the Supreme Court of India’s stay on the Delhi HC order granting bail to her father.
“I am writing this letter as a daughter who is exhausted, frightened, and slowly losing faith, but still holding on to hope because there is nowhere else left to go,” wrote Ishita.

She said that her family waited patiently for eight years and trusted the law and the Constitution.
“We trusted that justice in this country does not depend on noise, hashtags, or public anger…Today, I write because that faith is breaking,” she said.
The former BJP MLA’s daughter alleged that she was given rape and death threats on social media. “Over these years, I have been told countless times on social media that I should be raped, killed, or punished simply for existing. This hatred is not abstract. It is daily. It is relentless. And it breaks something inside you when you realise that so many people believe you do not even deserve to live.”
She said that her family chose silence because they believed in the institutions and believed the truth would come out.
Suggesting that her father was innocent, Ishita claimed that her family was not being heard.
“If pressure and public frenzy begin to overshadow evidence and due process, what protection does an ordinary citizen truly have?” she asked.
Her open letter came after the Supreme Court stayed the Delhi High Court order suspending Sengar’s life sentence and granting him bail in the case. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a lower court in the 2017 Unnao rape case.
